Hey guys.
I have an issue and i 2700 to spend.
i have a 97 Cx (FULLY STOCK)
IT Is IN MINT SHAPE.
This thing IS slow and i mean S-L-O-W!!!!
I have 2 options. RICE or not to rice.
Rice:
Rims, lowered, tint, lip, altezza lights, NICE ASS LEATHER racing Seats.
(all costing 2700 on the dot)
*I dun wanna do it cuz. I stalk smack abt ricers:P And if i pull up with it.. UMMMM. I dunn how i'll explain that. N its just TO SLOW
Or JUST GO CRAZy n drop a B18C1!!!
That will be Pushing PRICE LIMITS! I Might run outta money. :( No mcDonalds i guess:(
I worried. I know thsi guys at this shop in hamilton. He has done a few swaps.
But the CAR is mint, Motor Runs like new , it has 156,000 KM on it.
N for a civic thats nice! Its gunnna run for ever n be RELIABLE.
But if i drop tha engine. It might not be as reliable. Some Huge thing might go wrong... BUT ITS FAST.. I the point of me getting this car was to make it quick!..
GUYS, I know CX are very light and compact.. What other CHEAPER motor will add the post power for the money?? any oppinions?
I dont want a swap thats hard to do, nor a minime... any swap that is best bang for the buck?
but if i got a ricer.. can do all taht, drive it in the winter and get tha swap next summer. But ill look SOO pathedic this summer. N i might as well walk, CUZ ITS DO DAMN SLOW.
ANd which path would u take?
and advice?
Id appricate ur help..

i went what i guess you call rice except my interior is stock...
and i'm pretty happy with it, made it look more "luxury" than rice i think though...
my definition of rice = weed wacker muffler, unpainted parts galore, excessive body modifications (i.e. aggressive body kits, new hood fenders and fender flares all together), and couple other things
all in opinion i guess?
and my theory was i'd rather look nice and turn heads daily with a reliable engine and save myself the incredible want to race all the time
like i said, worked out well for me so far

Wow, you must walk pretty fast then.
By the way, a B18 is VERY a very reliable engine, so is the B16A2. So either of them (in stock form) shouldn't be much of a hassle. It's just when you start installing aftermarket parts is when it starts to break down.
These are pretty much the only engines that you can swap with - but the upside is that they will be plenty fast for you. A mini-me will be really simple and very cheap, but that gets you only 127 HP (compared to the 160-180 HP the other ones will get you). IMO, I'd save the money on all the "ricer" looks, and put that $ into the B18.

if I where you I would do the 18c1. but you can also turbo or supercharge your d16y7 it would make about the same hp as the b18c1 but it would be cheaper most likey and alot easyer:)
