1997 Grand Caravan/ tail gate

Hi
This week I bought the wife a 1997 Grand Caravan, The rear handle did open the door. She used the door once and now it won't open. I took the plug on the the panel off and opened the door.
Does any one know how the handle works , or how to get it out? So that i can replace it???
