3 Races In Two Days..

Race One:
Unkown Street bike, couldnt have been more than a 600 for sure. We were rolling he egged me on and went WOT, i shifted into 3rd going about 50 and pulled on him, he was @ about the middle of my car and steady.
Race Two:
350z (stock), no contest didn't care after 50mph.
Race Three:
This one kind of gets me, it was an SRT-4 and I am not sure if he was stock. His bov didnt sound stock though. Anyways we start off even then he pulls by about a car and when we hit 70-80 I start to pull up on him dramatically but we had to stop before it went any further, we raced again and the same thing...even, he pulls, then I start to catch up real quick, shit a truck is in the way and now I am at my street...If that car was stock I am in disbelief at the fact that a stock SRT could possibly beat an 06 WRX...although 70-80 was a dramatic pull so I am clueless, hope I find another one.

Ummm, I dont want to bust your happy bubble but your car makes as much power at the crank as a stock SRT-4 makes at the Wheels. so yeah...A stock SRT4 is a bit faster.
You would get him on the launch cause of the AWD but then he would just catch up and match you. After 80 or so mph your car's awd hinders its acceleration. Thats why so many stock SRT4s have been able to pull on stock Evos and STIs on highway races. we've even got a guy here with a yellow Cobalt SS/SC that has pulled away from STIs and Evos.
Im not too surprised the SRT got away from you.
EDIT: hang on, you said you slapped a 350Z around? bro I think you missunderstood the guy and thought he was actually trying to race you. That or you got the jump on him and shut it down before he passed you. check out the specs.
2003 350Z with the 287 HP engine:
0-60 : 5.3 sec

2006 WRX TR 230HP:
0-60 : 5.5 sec
Standing 1/4 mile: 14.2 @ 95.6 mph
And thats with the old production power rating of 287 hp on the Z, the newer models are even faster with 298 and 300 hp figures.
and for arguments sake the SRT-4 230WHP
0-60: 5.5 sec

I got the jump on him, it wasnt a long hall. As for the SRT-4, that makes me want to cry. A stock SRT pulling on a stock evo though? I had an Evo 8 RS and I raced a GT on the freeway and pulled on him until his speed limiter kicked in then I was gone. I couldn't see an SRT beating an Evo unless it had some mods done. So my car some small mods as you can read, but I think they make more of a difference on top end with the stock ECU settings. Well anyways that sucks for me that an SRT-4 is faster than my WRX because I think those cars are kinda crappy imo.

So you beat a 250cc bike?
Then thought you raced a 350Z, who was just cruising
And then finished it up by racing an srt4 who pulled on you, until he let off for traffic, and you caught up?
Sound about right?

What kind of bike was it. Just a lower end cruiser or was it a sport bike. Because a most sport bikes around 600cc's would destroy a WRX. I'm thinking it would of had to of been something like a 250cc Ninja or something close to that.

No, I raced an unkown street bike, then a 350z off the line to about 40, then I raced an srt who pulled on me until 70-80 when I started to catch back to him 2wice but truck was in front of him when we came around a curved street. I don't think my car is the fastest car I know its not. My car has a few small mods, I was just seeing what people thought about power differences with these mods, and about high low end differences in power.

how can an AWD car that makes less power and weighs more pull ahead from a ROLL??? it doesnt make sense bud. either the kid didnt know how to shift, or somthing was majorly wrong with his car. yes, stock for stock, evo guys are scared of the srt because of the same reason i stated above.
when it comes to the Z, he couldnt have been racing.
600cc bike? your joking right? most 600cc bikes run mid11's or faster. no way he was running.

Evo guys dont fear you son, there have been guys thats have pulled it off but that dosent mean they "fear you" for fucks sake they laugh thier asses off at you cause they can actually push a button and lower thier rear windows!
and that pulling away dosent happen till after a good 120 or so mph.
you need alot of highway to pull it off with those funny little brakes, or you might end up in a masterfull fwd skidd off the road.
and he already admitted he got the jump on the 350 then shut it down quick.

After 80 or so mph your car's awd hinders its acceleration.
No, it does not. All that happens is that the bennifit of an AWD launch is removed. Acceleration wise, it wont hurt you at all. If you think it does, you might wanna cruise up to Chitown and talk to the guys at AMS. Or hell, go up to Pensacola, talk to Chris himself. I mean...I seem to remeber his little 601awhp Evo ripping up a good amount of 650ish rwhp Fbodies and Cobras...
2003 350Z with the 287 HP engine:
0-60 : 5.3 sec
standing 1/4 mile: 13.77 @ 100.94 mph
And that is the MOST optimistic time I have ever seen on a 350Z. I mean, I think Igor pulled out a high 13 with his, but he thrashed the shit outa it. Most of them are a low 14 second car with a good driver, the average driver pulls it out around a mid 14. Hell, I raced an Auto one with two other people in my car, and he only had about two, two and a half lengths on me before I cut his pull. When I shut down, he was no more than 2.5 lengths up, no longer pulling, but I wasn't pulling on him.
TEXSRT4-Bikes are not the end all be all to racing. And I think most 600cc bikes, with a good launch, are more in the 12 second range, some cutting out a high to mid 11s. If a 600cc bike is a 10 second bike, then why waste money on a ZX-14 or 'Busa when you can just get a 600cc and exhaust/ecu flash/tune it...? And I have yet to meet any one with an Evo, specially the new IX, that fears an SRT-4.
Anyways, RJG makes a good point, but who knows. If you aint bull shitting us, good kills.

AWD does hurt power to the wheels compared to a RWD car, but at all speeds, not just over 80 MPH. We have roughly twice the drivetrain loss, so less power makes it to the wheels. On the other hand, you cannot compare HP numbers on a turbo car to a NA car, because it's area under the curve that matters, not just peak power. A mustang GT and an STI both have 300 HP at the crank. I'm not sure what a GT dyno's at the wheels (it also depends largely on what dyno you use), but I bet it's around 280, whereas an STI dynos 260 WHP stock. However, the STI will make 260 WHP from 4000-6500 RPM, so it's always at max power. If you shift at 6500, you end up at 4000 RPM in the next gear, still at max HP. In a GT, or any NA car, the torque curve should be almost flat, so you only hit peak HP at redline. When you shift into the next gear, you are now away from the peak power area. That's why an STI can beat a GT, even from a roll, and even with AWD.

Ummmm 260 even sounds like too much for an STi... 260WHP on an STi is only a 13% drivetrain loss, which is about average for a RWD (Most stock 05GT's dyno between 260-270). At a tuning shop a couple hours from where I live I started talkin to the guy that worked there. I started going on and on about my next project and I began talking about either an EVO or an STi. I asked the guy if he gets a lot of EVO's/STi's (he has the only AWD dyno in town) and he told me a guy had been in a few weeks ago and dynoed at about 240 with a few bolt-ons... 240AWHP sounds about right to me since that is a 20% drivetrain loss...
Anyways, I am pretty confident a new GT could beat an STi from a roll. Despite the fact they are as aerodynamic as a brick, they have a very good top end for being a Mustang.

I'm not talking about drivetrain loss, I could give two shits. Who cares about power at the crank? Thats just a bragging number for dyno queens. I'm saying that an AWD car doesn't suck from a roll, its just seems like it does becuase you don't have the AWD launch advantage. Once it spins out the launch, it accelerates like a RWD/FWD car.

98Stang, you are right, 20% drivetrain loss is about right, so STi should make about 240 WHP. 260-270 sounds about right for a Mustang GT, but again it all depends on area on the curve, and that is where the STi has the advantage. STi against GT would probably come down to the driver and conditions.
By the way, where is that MaXXuS guy to defend himself? Let's see some pictures of you with your car.

It's safe to say from a lower roll the GT would have the advantage because of it's low end torque. Anything above 40 though, I would have to give to the STi.
Anyways, what about this MaXXus guy?

From a 5 MPH roll, the STi is definitely a dog, but from a 20 MPH roll it's a different story. You just have to be at a high enough RPM to overcome the boost lag, so 4000 RPM. That's like 20 MPH in first gear.
I don't believe Maxxus has a WRX.

Heres the evo, this is what happens when your not careful..I took a turn out lane at night on the freeway and it dropped off into dirt while I was going about 80. No one else was involved but me. I had an autometer boost gauge, 2.5" catback exhuast K&N Filter in stock box, and an Apline CD Player with 4 sony speakers. I had painted the handles and mirrors (cuz it was an RS). That was a sweet car before I crashed it. Had only had it for 3 months when I crashed it. I'll take pictures of my WRX when I wash it again.
By the way, where is that MaXXuS guy to defend himself? Let's see some pictures of you with your car.

And I have yet to meet any one with an Evo, specially the new IX, that fears an SRT-4."
A lot of those 600 sport bikes can pull into 10's easy with someone who can perform a good launch.

No, but I was going about 80 the car did a 360, hit the center divider turned around and hit again and the spun across the freeway. BTW that car saved my life and kept me perfectly in tact, no injuries at all.
