Hey guys, so im somewhat new to civics. Anyways im considering buying a 99 Si that has had a b16a installed in it recently. The engine only has 12,000 miles on it. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me about how reliable these engines are if it would be my daily driver. Aside fromt eh engine the car just has some bolt ons and some carbon fiber work done. Anyways any information would be great. thanks.

I was under the impression that the b16a2 was the same engine that was put into a 99 si.

ok i thought you meant b16a, which is an older version. The b16a2 is the correct one.

If you were to modify the engine (internals or forced induction), you'd lose some reliability. But in stock form, it's very reliable; that's what Honda's are known for. Of course it also depends on how well it was taken care of, and if the previous owner beat on it or not.

Its fucking reliable man, I have driven my 99 SI really hard, and the engine has never given me a problem, i have 62,000 miles on it and it runs perfect. Just change the oil and filters, check the liquids and rev it up all the way to 8000 rpm, no problemo.
