broken connector

While changing my oil I accidentally broke a connector that plugs into a crankshaft sensor.

There is nothing wrong with the sensor, only the connector that is crimped to the wire coming from the car's computer. The problem is that this little piece is a specialized connector that cannot be bought separately and installed (though it would be that easy).

I'm afraid I'm going to need to buy an entire new sensor just to get that little part!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If it's the part of the connector that attaches to the wires that go to the cps then you will have to buy a new cps to get the connector. If it's the end that plugs into that connector and runs back to the main wiring harness then you might be able to go to a junk yard and get them to cut the connector off for you and it might be free but would only be about 5 bucks maybe.

Does it still plug in, just not latch? I say jam it in and tape it :)

Worst case scenario you're looking at a junkyard CPS. Go to a pik-a-part where you pay $2 to get in, pull your own, then they have flat rates for sensors. Probably $5-10

Thats shitty that yalls junk yards charge to get in. Also might just try cutting off the harness connector and soldering the wire to the sensor, just keep the plug if you ever change out the sensor.

Yeah, but if you saw what was in them you'd gladly pay $2. There's one here with no fewer than 7 Olds 442s, and 4 of them still have the 8.5" rear axle. There are a bunch of disc brake rear axles, and the best part is they're all flat rate prices. You want a four-banger from an 86 Ford Escort its $75. You want a Caddy 500, its $75. It doesn't matter if you want a Dana 60 or an AMC 15, its $125. You can even mix'n'match parts to get what you want. Want a disc brake 9" ford? Find the 9" in your choice of widths, swap out axles, brakes, find a nodular case with 3.73 and a posi, put it all together and guess what... $125.

Sometimes I actually pay my $2 and just walk around. Some people do putt-putt golf or go to the movies... I go to the junkyard :)

Yeah all the ones here are flat rate, well, the ones I got to anyway. I'm on a fist name basis with people who work there ... kinda sad really. By the way where are you located at? I might have to make a treck....
