i cant turn my car off! I fought with my keys for about 10 mins trying to turn it back to the lock position. No success so i pulled the ignition fuse and unhooked the battery. It got stuck last night, but i turned it forward (and made that loud noise) then turned it off. that didnt work this time. anyone know the deal?

Bum lock cylinder or actuating rod to the ignition switch could be binding up or bent.

btw that "loud" noise that happens when you turn the key is your starter motor grinding its teeth against the flywheel teeth....very bad.....dont do that....

That is probably a dealer item.

man that airbag stuff is no joke. Anytime we have to go underneath the dash on an airbagged car we have to wear ear protection. I have a set that looks like the guys at airports wear lol. But if it goes off while your under there, you WILL lose your hearing because it causes a negative pressure under there. Crazy stuff.

Hell it's bad enought having em go off in your face. When I was a driver back when Ford redesigned the Econoline vans with the 91 1/2 &92 model there was some defect in the column linkage for tilit steering. After a few months it would eventually start to shear the wiring harness for the SRS system then short to ground it, and el boomo. That was some scarey shit there. 3 times those mothers went off in 3 different vans and amazingly I never hit anything. Atleast they got on it really fast and pulled them back, somehow it didn't warrant a full on recall, not enough of em on the road yet or something like that.

the VERY EXACT same thing happend to me, (i think) its a rod that got pushed back and something with your lock cylinder, i had to take it to GM to fix it, they replaced my whole lock cylinder, and did away with VATS somehow. but its a dealer thing GL

That would scare the crap out of me, having the air bag go off out of nowhere.
