Electric windows shot!

O.K. Before I start I want to begin by warning you all that I'm far from being a mechanic however I think I'm getting better. But please bear with me on this.

I have a 95 voyager with electric windows. The driver's side window simply stopped working. So I decided to give the switch a look. Up on taking it out of the door I noticed the clip that the switch goes to seemed to be worn. So I wiggle it and I get the window to go down. Ok I say to myself simple enough I will simply get a new plug and switch and I'm in business. right? well not so fast.

We had been expecting rain so it was vital that I got the window to go up so that I can go tomarrow and get the parts that I need.
so I give the switch another wiggle and the window starts on its way up and them smoke comes out of the switch! the window then goes no where! I give the switch a look over and it comes apart in my hand! That's not the worst of it. Now the window on the passenger side will not go up either! it will however go down. I even pulled the plug on the bad switch on the driver side and still nothing.

I gave the fuses a look over but I could not determine which one would control the up on the electric windows? So at this point I'm asking if anyone has had a simular experience and if you go offer some guidence here. I'm going to go after a new switch and plug tomarrow. do you have any other suggestions? thanks in advance!

Get yourself the new switch and that should work. The passenger side window only works in one direction because of the loss of a ground from the bad switch. Let us know if you have other problems once the switch is replaced.
