I have a 91 integra brakes work fine for one or 2 stops at a time then the pedal will go to the floor untill pumped up again (just a couple times) Do you think the master cylinder is bleeding past because there is no signs of leakage of fluid and the brake fluid level is hardly going down if any. Thanks guys

it's not necessarily leaking. superbluecivic is gonna start thinking that i'm just trying to argue with him, but my girlfriend has a 91 integra with what sounds like the same problem. On hers, its the brake booster that's shot. Luckily, she bought a parts car. I'm gonna change it within the next couple of days. (It's been pouring rain here for over a week and I have to do it outside or I'd have removed it already) Here's how I think it has to be removed: ( if I'm wrong, I'll let you know after I'm done) There's a pin thru a fork in the booster that goes thru the brake pedal lever itself that has to be removed (inside the car), 4 bolts (I think) on the firewall that has to be removed (inside the car), and remove the brake lines from the master cylinder (under the hood) and it should come out. Now I'm hoping it comes out the top, but someone told me that I may have to jack up the car, pull the drivers axle, and pull it out the bottom (like you are supposed to do when changing an alternator). That in my opinion is your problem. So, superbluecivicsi, I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you once again, but I'm sure we will see eye to eye on something eventually.

thats not an argument. it can be that too. it is rare to have your brake booster crap on you. the most likely cause of a losing pressure is from a leak. will not shot anyone down with that statement.

I know that its rare, but hers just crapped out on her and his sounds like exactly like the same problem. Maybe the warranty just run out on 91 integra brake boosters this week, hahaha. You could very well be correct with your diagnosis, just that when I read his post, I started to think that maybe it wasn't as rare as i thought for the brake booster to crap out. Also now that i re-read his post, I'm thinking that you are probably right, becuse he said he gets pressure again after a few pumps, which the g/f does too but she keeps losing it right away then it goes right to the floor, few more pumps then shes got brakes for a second then right back to the floor, and not going thru any fluid.

just to update: i finally took the g/f's booster off. you have to remove the master cylinder from the booster and when you are pulling it out the booster has to be turned sideways and the fork that is normally hooked to the pedal has to be pulled out thru a slot in the hole in the firewall. what a bitch it turned out to be, took me 2 hrs by the time i finally figured out to remove the master cylinder and turn it sideways.
