Trunk lid needs help.

Well I installed an OEM spoiler on my car and now the trunk lids just falls when you close it and have to hold it while closing. Is there a way to fix this?
I was thinking of changing the points where the metal rods hold on to the body, but wouldn't that make it close even faster?
Anyways, I need help.
