I have a 2001 SLT with 85k mi. im starting to have a series of problems like my SES light on, security light on while driving, rear wiper not working, and a few other small probs. a friend of mine tried to get codes from the bcm but was unable to get any. MY question is is the replacement of the bcm a big expensive job? and whats involved?

I would take it to a different shop or the stealer(dealer) and see if they can scan the codes for you before you start looking in to replacing the bcm. The bcm reman could cost you as much as $400.
