car won't start

I have a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE Coupe with the 3.3L V6. The ignition is working but the spark plugs are not sparking. We have replaced a bad Ignition Control Module, bad Coils, bad fuses, and put new spark plugs on but the spark plugs still will not fire. What could be wrong?

Bad Crank Sensor is a possibility assuming all wiring is kosher and the module and coil pack is getting power.

Have you checked all the fuses?, your powers and grounds at the ignition module?

Change the crankshaft senser. My mom hade the same motor in her 92 ga and the same problem.

Follow the wire from the crankshaft position sensor and see where it leads to and make sure it's not broken or touching a metal. If the wire is broken or touching the metal (ground), then there would be no signal coming from the CPS and so the ECM would not know when to tell the ICM to energize the ignition coils and so no sparks.

Have you changed the plug wires? Before you replace all of the electrical components, is everything else in the car working? If not everything else is working it could be a simple as a bad fuseable link, or it could be as complicated as a computer. When you turn the key on do you have a check engine light (this tells you the computer has power and is working). Have you had the computer scanned for codes (this may save you alot of time).

What actually happened when the car died? Sometimes the story helps tell us what may have gone bad with the car.

The reason I ask about the check engine light is because I spent lots of time & money replacing electrical components in my GA, ended up being a bad power wire going to the computer, hard to track down, easy to fix once I knew what it was. good luck and reply back with your findings and we'll try to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for all the help. It was the crankshaft sensor. It is running now.
