I figure I should get some better shocks since my stocks aren't as good with the lowering springs. So what is a good brand. I only need some for less than a 2'' drop and I don't need adjustable.

If you are not too much of a stickler on adjustability and stuff, the only place to go is The Tire Rack (http://www.tirerack.com).
They sell KYB sport shocks for only $40 a whack, which is less than even the crappy midas shocks. Sure there are better ones out there, but not for that price! They have pretty good prices on the adjustable KYB's as well.

Is KYB as good as Koni?

OK I'm gonna get KYB GR2s but from driverfx.com because they are my boys.

I would have to say that there is no way KYB will ever be close to Koni, especially when it comes to adjustability and suspension tuning. However, they are reliable shocks, and the GR2's will give you a fair amount of adjustability. (and leave your wallet in less pain.) ;)

Don't forget tockio blues, always a personal favorite of mine hehe (even though i have adjustable tockios but they are good shocks none the less).
