Drivin home today, I noticed that the car seemed to stutter when I released the clutch, then would accelerate like normal. I want to say its the clutch. Does this sound right? If I ease out of the clutch real nice, it doesn't happen, but if I dump or shift more normal, the tach/car stutters and then the car will pull/accelerate. The service engine light came on after a while of drivin rough (before I started using more clutch), but I was wondering if it would survive a drive to/from work (80 miles round trip) before being serviced. Thanks!

Is is stuttering while your releasing the clutch or does it happen when the clutch is fully released and your accelerating? I've run into the latter with my car, I've not fixed it but I attribute the behavior to the need of a major tune-up (it's a 13 year old car with lots of original crap). You may just need a tune-up, If the car drives fine I'd say the drive to work will be ok.

thats a good point....i assumed it was the clutch since it stutters immediately after releasing it. I guess it might just need a tune up (54000 miles). Hopefully it'll survive to thursday.
