got lugs on my wheels that have a key, these jackasses that i stupidly let work on my car cuz i didn't have time stripped one...:shakehead

my solution - break off the lug
problem with my solution - how do i break it off without damaging anything other than the lug?

or should i jus force somethin onto them and try to twist them off?

got another better idea let me know?

Use the sockets for striped lugs. Simple.

as i said they're the ones with a KEY, the key fits on the inside, not around the outside, so those stripped lug sockets are useless

Get something that is like the key but just a little big bigger and beat that into the lug nut, and then twist it off. Maybe they make bigger keys for bigger lug nuts, try getting one of those to beat it in

i dont know how ur lugnuts are but i was able to figure out that it was just an oversized alan wrench fitting.

that's what i was thinkin about the alan wrench thing, my friend tried it and none fit, so he figured it was metric cuz he didn't have any metric alan wrenches...

and if it didn't fit i thought about using the other theory, jus beatin it in lol

Simple answer. A fellow auto-X'er in my auto-X group once broke the key to his Kyougen lug locks. The key snapped in half so it was useless. These lugs use a 7 sided key that fits INSIDE the the lugs just like yours. Ho got them off using a GATORgrip socket. Little known fact is that any thief can bypass these locks using that tool. So try it out and see if it works. otherwise i dunno how you'd go about getting them off without risking damaging anything. Good luck!

i am pretty sure that the alan wrench size is 17mm

Like $20-$30 at Sears, you can't afford that? I mean seriously, it's a FAR better choice and price than having to crack them off and having to buy new wheels, or studs, or hubs, or whatever else cracking them off might damage. The moral of the story here is don't get inside key lugs like that (too many stories of them stripping out) and don't ever trust any shop with your car to not mess anything up.

When I replaced my brake rotors the first time I had a hell of time getting off the 2 screws that hold each rotor to the hub at the hat. I almost completely stripped out one of the screws before asking advice how to get them off, because due to heat and thermal transfer and all that stuff, they were practically stuck to the hub. I was told to go out and buy or aquire an impact torque driver. They were $25 at Sears. Expensive for a tool yes, but FAR cheaper than going to a brake shop to pay some lemming to use a torque gun on it and charge me an hour worth of labor to do so. And the kicker... It worked PERFECTLY, even on the nearly rounded out stripped screw. So in all seriousness, the Gatorgrip is well worth the trouble/cost to buy. Plus you can use it like almost everywhere you use a socket.

My bad, I thought you were saying they are expensive, rather than saying you think they might be. But they aren't so no worries. :)

yea i'll probably do that tomorrow, ran into TONS of trouble on the fronts lol...

broke a bolt off in the threading, had to drill it out and fucked up the thread and had to shove a new bolt in and have to get a new part, the upside down U that holds the strut, shit's retarded...

also my MAIN problem...

the struts are sticking WAY out the top, in the engine bay, i think they screw down? not really for sure, the instructions showed some wierd ass reason for doing them, it basically made no sense what they said so i didn't worry, and it turned out bad lol...

anyone know if the original orange rubber stop needs to be on the new struts?

new developments, got the front done, but i destroyed one of the yellow bumpers that i probably will end up needing, anyone know if i can buy them at just autoparts stores or what?

also.........

the gator grip won't work, BECAUSE there isn't enough of the lug sticking out of the wheel for it to get a grip on the outside...

i TRIED getting an alan wrench, it was 12mm, and it fit great, but the lug was just on so damn tight that when i kept twirkin it it eventually just stripped it out completely.......

so i'm THINKIN my only alternative is to break it off or weld somethin to it like the alan wrench and then do that but i don't want to get any weld or sparks to damage the wheel cuz it will get REALLY close cuz as i said there's barely any of the lug stickin out past the wheel..

anyone got any more ideas?

Sounds like some crappy @ss lugs then... I'm glad mine aren't like that.

In any event what do you mean by the yellow bumper?

i can't get a socket around it, they go deep into the room with no room around them, that's why you have to go from the inside, no room on the outside...
