My LSS is dead at the moment and I need some advice. What happened: running fine, had lost fluid a month ago but never saw any pools. Going to work and stopped for coffee, came out and would turnover but not start. Added fluids because none in reservoir. Started up and went two miles to office. Left work and less than ten miles later temp went to the red. Towed her home, put on ramps, changed oil and filled fluids. Ran for a few minutes but did not sound right. Shut her off and will not start now. I have taken in the starter and battery and they check out good. When I hit the key it just hits the starter really hard but does not spin the engine. Any help is greatly appreciated. I can spin the engine from the harmonic balancer but not sure if it is going through a complete cycle.

Fluids, what fliuds? If coolant you better pull the plugs spin it over and get the antifreeze out, then figure on the upper intake having failed at the egr passage but you will need to pull it of and inspect this are closely, obviously if the coolant is in the cylinders a head gasket could cause this, but much less likely the the troublesome upper intake. Was coolant in the oil? Not sounding right what, a knock ,a miss, lots of info is missing here.

yep assuming you have a non-supercharged lss then UIM is a very likely issue.

No water in the oil. It sounded like it was missing. Thanks for responding.

Thanks for the post Max. Mandy had me confused too. Have not got her running yet. I can spin the engine now. I do have fire at the plugs and fuel to the cylinders. Will not fire up though. I hope to get time in about two weeks to start taking her apart to find the culprit. Any help is still greatly appreciated.

Take a compression test, at least the easy cylinders, try spraying carb cleaner into the intake, see if it kicks.
