I have a 99 2.5 L V6 Contour SE. The other day it stalled while turning a corner. I restarted, made it another 1/4 mile and it stalled during another turn. Now when I start it, it immediately stalls unless I give it gas. I replaced the fuel pump with no luck. In the past I have changed the IAC valve, and the alternator just got replaced a month or so ago. Any ideas?

I bought a code scanner and came up with P1504, IAC valve. Of course I already replaced the fuel pump!!! I replaced the IAC valve at the end of summer already!:banghead:

Clean the IAC and see if that helps.

I wonder since the IAC is only a few months old, if it can be exchanged for a new one at autozone? I am pretty sure there was a year warranty.

Well, I bought a new IAC and the car ran fine. I took it around the block for a little test drive. Go figure a little ways down the block the car died. It is the same as before, unless i give it gas it will die. The car is again giving the P1504 code which is the IAC valve.... I can;t figure out why it is doing this.:banghead: :banghead:

Hi, Well I guess it's time for you to get a FACTORY manual with the diagnostic flow charts and proper procedure to fix the problem, Really it's the ONLY way to go without spending a lot odf money on the hit or miss method you are useing....GOOD LUCK....Clay..

Did you try replacing the fuel filter?

Yes, I did replace the fuel filter first. I looked at the wires going into the iac connector and it looks like there is a little break in the wire so that might be the last issue. I have a pic but I don't know how to post it on here. I have to find a junkyard with my car so I can get a new one to splice in. THe break is too close to the connector.

We have the same a 2000 V6 with a similar problem. THe stalling usually happens after a left turn. Initially we had to have less than a quarter tank of gas before we saw the problem. Now it's happening at less than a half tank.

I went to the dealer and bought a new connector and installed it to the old wires. It works finally! After three weeks the car finally runs!
