Automatic Blinkers?

So I recently bought a 2002 Ford Focus SE. The car's just great! :) The only thing, the blinkers don't automatically turn off. :screwy: The dealer seemed to be convinced that the car was manufactured this way. Well personally I'm convinced they would never do that in a new car. :shakehead I just don't understand what would be wrong. I've had a few people say its in the steering column and that it's a spring or a censor. I just don't wanna tear it apart without knowing for sure. I mean it's really not that big of a deal to hafta manually turn the blinkers off. I just don't want to be that lady that forgets to turn her blinker off if you know what I mean. So does anyone have any ideas what's up, or some unGodly reason why they would design a car this way?
