whats the differance between a mustang GT and a MACH 1 ?

i know there is a differance but i was just wondering what it is... and also what are their 1/4 mile times too, like 2002-2004 models, i was thinking aout buying a mach1, not sure if its worth it, is there something i have to know about it??

Mach 1's are 4V's and GT's are 2V's. Mach 1's have 305 hp stock and GT's have 260 stock, Mach 1's also have better gearing. Mach 1's run low to mid 13's and GT's run low 14's.

4V's means 4 valves per cylinder and 2V means 2 valves per cylinder.

And 305HP for the Mach is thought to be a conservative number....many think it's more like 320.

The Mach1 is basically a 01 Cobra but with different gears, a live axel, a barely functional shaker, and some other minor differences the end result is a much better car than the GT Mustang.

Better than the 2V GT's, but aren't the 3V GT's on about the same level as the Mach 1?

Anyway, I'd definitely go with the Mach 1 over the GT. Of course, the best way to know the difference is to test drive them for yourself.

No 4V are better than 3V. The problem is that Ford never took the time to realy develop the 4V like they should have. Koenigsegg did and got 806bhp.

The CCX runs a twin Centrifugal Supercharger system with no boost lag. They have designed a means of storing boost (compressed air) that would normally be relieved back to the S/C inlet via the by-pass valve when the throttle blades close. The stored boost would then be available when the driver plants the accelerator and the PCM detects WOT with no manifold pressure. The engineers were able to combine the instantaneous boost of a positive displacement supercharger with the efficiency and higher boost level of a centrifugal S/C. Now that is some creative engineering.

all cobras after 99 had an IRS, machs have a higher compresion ratio, 3.55 gears and 4 valve heads, and sadly the same sh*tty tremec 3650 tranny as the GT

GT = loser, mach1 = close race. Not bashing on 'stangs or anything, just stating facts backed up by many trips down the 1/8 and 1/4, stock vrs. stock against my '99 Z28. I personally love the styling of the new GT and would buy one in a second, but I am a family man, and the GT has even less room than my '99. My "family" vehicle is a '03 Ram Quadcab. I have had many Fords some Dodges and many Chevies over the years, so I'm not really brand loyal. I go for best bang for my $$

Mach 1 has a 4V DOHC motor GT has 2V SOHC motor the Mace 1 also has better suspension better brakes live axle and better gearing the Mach 1 is a all around better car.
