question about CD player for 97 Jetta GLS

Quite possibly a stupid question, but I was wondering if I can install an aftermarket CD player in my 97 Jetta, or if I HAVE to install the CD changer? Any input would be appreciated.

You can replace it with an aftermarket cd player as long as you have the wiring and harness to do so.

you can buy the harness and stuf usually where you buy the aftermarket cd player. If not then check a bestbuy near you that sells car audio
