ok i have spent about 2 hours searching the internet for some place that has laws about what you can and cant do to your car. and i have come up with NOTHING, so i thought that i would bounce this question of you all and see if you know...does anybody know how low you can lower your car in the state of maryland have it be legal? i was thinking about dropping my car about 3 inches, but since i go on to a military base a lot, i gotta be legal, if anyone knows a place to find out or knows the answer your help woudl be appreciated (i looked on the MVA/DMV's site and the maryland department of trasportationa and nothing) thanks again

If the body line was lower than the rim, wouldnt the body be sitting on the ground?

no b/c i used to have a full body kit on my car, and with my 17s the body line was still higher than the rim. there was still about 4 inches ground clearance at the lowest point, also i have 205/40/17. however with my stock wheels, with the fatter tire, but smaller rim, the side skirts were lower than the rim. so i guess with the steelies they're illegal. well anyways i read it in superstreet, when they asked a chp officer questions on legal and illegal.

my uncle told me here in kali, it's 2" from the ground. no lower than that. all i know is that, the lower your car is and if you're not using it for drifting with a -2 camber, you better get some camber kit.
