The transmission in my 1999 Tahoe has gone south, I do have a 1994 LT1 police wagon, with a good one. What are the chances that I could use the 1994 in the 1999? I intend to also put this question up on the GM forum

The Tahoe has an LSX engine right? The bellhousing depth is different which is a MUCH bigger problem than the PWM differences which would also pose a problem. If those still had a gen1 based motor then it would be a bit easier to make work but still not a perfect dropin.

If you have a 1A2 wagon I think you could find a buyer and if it is vaguely OK shape that should pay for a proper tranny in the truck.

id love to find a police wagon, why not just sell the wagon and buy the proper trans

Which begs the question, "Why not just repair the '99 transmission?"

Outside of the little extra work in removing the transfer case, it's really a straightforward R&R, and rebuild between the two. Other than the differences in the bell pattern, it should be a straight 4L60-E.

And, just for curiosity, what exactly is the definition of "Gone South" in this case? It may be repairable with only removing the trans oil pan, in the vehicle.
