Nail Polish?????

How many people here use nail polish to paint there cars? also what do you use to hin it down to shoot through your airbrush. also do you thin it half-half or what??? i will apreciate any help

Nail polish is usually a lacquer based paint, so thin with lacquer thinner. There are some enamel nail polishes as well, but generally enamel paints have no problem with being thinned with lacquer thinner - test as always.

Thin it to the consistency of milk or thinner - the thinner you go, the lighter your coats will have to be to prevent running. Hope this helps.

don't forget to prime your car, I recommend a white primer with a light color nail polish so that you don't get the primer color showing through....

thanks for the help. but while on the subject of nai polish and colors . where do u guys put your thinned or custom mixed paints once you are finished with them??? what kind of jar, if a jar at all??

I use the 23 ml tamiya bottles too. Just a word of warning though, when using paints thinned with lacquer thinner, only add thinner to the amount that you are planning to use. Paints thinned with lacquer thinner tends to turn "gummy" in a short time because the lacquer evaporates fast. hope that helps
