I am thinking about an engine swap for my 93 dakota. Does anyone know what i am looking at if i want to dump the v8 from another dakota into mine that currently has a v6 in it? Also mine is auto and 4x4 with air??? On another note i have been wondering if there is something that i can do to my dakota to gat more power??? alreay have cold air regapped the plugs to .040 changed the cap and rotor... i dont know what else to do. If the resinaitor is plugged will it cause me to loose power?? How about if i cut the muffler out and only have the reninator in it will that do anything for me other than make it loud. i am in Canada so it dont matter about emmissions here. there is no cat on my truck currently. Someone told me to reset the PCM but what is that and how do you do it??

Thanks

If you do a search you will find this exact discussion from about a month or two ago.
You will need a complete donor truck ,preferably of the same year.
You need the engine, trans, maybe the crossmember, PCM and all of the ignition/fuel system wiring and hardware. It is a lot of work. Most of us agree that it is better to sell the V6 truck and buy a V8 truck, even if the V8 truck has a lot of miles on it and you have to overhaul the engine. Then you have opportunity to install the speed parts you want (emission legal of course). You can get 300+ hp out of a 5.2l and be emissions legal. There are companies that make supercharger kits for the V6 that will bring you into the 300hp range much easier than an engine swap.
