EDIT: here is where i found the pictures http://www.geocities.com/swisscars/flyer1.html. i noticed there are a few pictures i left out that are included in the link.

also, for those curious about the front end turn signals and other lights, here are the parts needed for this look http://www.rtec.ch/euro_front.html

here is his 3000GT page http://www.rtec.ch/3000gt.html

and here is some quick info and a few good pics of the european style 3000GT http://www.rtec.ch/info_mods.html
____________

a while back, i made reference in many different thread to the different exterior styling of European 3000GTs. i found those pictures, but haven't been able to locate the website from which i downloaded them. but here they are for your enjoyment. if you can read French or German, then these will be even more interesting to you to read the captions. My French is really rusty, but perhaps i'll try a crappy translation for you.

What i love most about this version of the 3000GT is the pop-up headlights and their turn signal, no snake eyes, and what i believe is a headlight washer spray nozzle mounted where the snake eyes would be.

enjoy!

Very nice. I assume the French says the same as the German...Singing it's praises and telling about all the features, etc.

I love that front end as well. I can read some of the German nothing special. Its "Car of the Year" in Veronegen (SP?) Staten or US. And talks about not only the handling but electronic controls. After the fourth pic it talks about optional features such as ABS, AA, and says its a schnell or fast car.

is it possible to get those headlight covers and turn signals overhere? do they just hook right up?

^^^ Anything is possible my friend. You would probably have to move part of that black strip on the front in order to get those lengthy lights to fit though.

99% sure those are the RHD GTO's for export.

it is clear in the pictures that its a LHD vehicle.

I speculate that Europe has different regulations on automotive lighting, and so perhaps this front bumper turn signal option was made available only for GTO's shipped to Europe???

You would need the entire bumper cover, headlight lids, and markers to make it work.

The GTO was never sold in Europe. It was only sold in Japan.

That is the European spec 1g 3000gt. If it was a converted GTO it would be RHD.;) And as seen by all the pics they all show a LHD vehicle.;)

thanks Geoff for the link.

so here are some up-close pics of BB1970's GTO. it appears to be RHD! but the front bumper turn signals must have been altered/added.

you can see where the stock US spec turn signal would go.

The turn signals are definitely the bomb, but I like our lights better with the snake eye look. Also, anyone notice on page 12 of the first link provided, that there is a digital something in the pod cluster thing?

its my thread so i can do what i want to, do what i want to, do what i want to. and my updates were ON topic.

ya, i believe that's a digital clock. it makes more sense to have it up there where its more easily seen, than all the way down on the stock radio display. also, the temp. gauge which would have been in the left pod was moved to the 2nd pod with the oil gauge.

I am sure they think its retarded we had 2007 model year cars start to appear in June of 06. ;)

AutostradaVR4
09-02-2006, 01:29 AM
eh...i suppose i can see where your coming from. it would just seem to me that the car itself would/should be the only factor in determining the year denotation. Otherwise, how else will a shop/dealership know what part is needed? Take for example my 1993 VR-4. The VIN history on CARFAX shows it was actually sold in 1994, meaning it would register as a 1994 vr4 in europe. Now, I'm sure i dont need to tell most of you all the parts differences between the 2 years, asthetically and mechanically. I would think this would pose a major problem.

Stealthee
09-02-2006, 02:13 AM
They dont necessarily use years in those points. They could either use manufactuaring date or MKI or MKII. ;)

Yeah Europe never got the US spec 97/98 or 99 styling.
