(Just incase you missed it over on the other fourm!)

Hey guys, as you can see I am a total newbie when it come to Hondas!

I currently drive a Clio 172, however I have just bought a 1991 Civic 1.6 16V 130 BHP for doing track days at the local circuit and to keep the miles of the 172.

I'm looking for some simple mods to begin with, exhaust system, induction kit, brake upgrade, susspension upgrade and a set of performance tyres. What do you guys reccomend? I haven't got an idea!

What can realistically be gained from these engines by allowing it to breath?

Thanks

Paul

Welcome to the euro forum.

You won't be driving that clio long after you have been bitten by the Honda bug:devil:

I think a good first mod would be the suspension setup (springs and shocks). I mean, what's the use of power when you can't keep it on the road. The car will also look a lot better.

As for hp gaines with just an intake/exhaust setup, never believe people who offer you 50hp, I think a more realistic number would be somewhere between 5hp-15hp (correct me if I'm wrong on this guys, don't know the exact numbers of the engine).

Hope you'll enjoy your Honda.

Ah, as for brands of shocks, springs, you got a wide variaty in this. Depends on how much you want to spend and 'what' you want. Do you want a just springs and shocks or do you want a coilover/ true-coilover setup...

There are a few european brands that are pretty good. Koni shocks, H&R,...

Welcome to the Euro Forum

I have the D16A6 engine which is SOHC (single cam)
My guess is that you have a D16A9 engine DOHC (double cam),
and I think that you can get chip tuning for that engine
You then gain like +/- 15 hp

Anybody knows if there are any tuning chips available for my engine????
I think I saw one on the site of http://www.nnomo-racing.de/
It says this "Civic ED7 (G-kat)" I think that refers to my engine then, right??
And the price is € 410, but you have to send in your computer
Any shops in Holland who sell those chips and install them ?

Any shops in Holland who sell those chips and install them ? That´s way to much IMO! Chiptuning isn´t really worth it unless you´ve done some other serious mods like new cams and stuff like that. With just a chiptuning you may gain between 3-10hp depending on the engine.
