Another A/C not blowing cool air

I have a 1997 2 door 350 cid tahoe and went to use my A/C for the first time since last hot season and it wasnt blowing cool air. The compressor clutch kicks on just fine, I checked the refrigerant charge in it and it is perfect. A friend of mine said it might be the switch on the accumulator gone bad. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Please help! thanks.

Now the compressor doesnt kick on. It will turn on when I jump the switch though, but not otherwise! It doesnt matter how long I leave the jumper on the switch, the air never gets cold, neither does any of the lines.

Either your clutch cycle switch has gone bad or you need the system recharged.

recharge the system, the compressor kicked on because the sensor picked up on just enough freon the engage the clutch but now it is not engaging. also check for leaks, you are not supposed to loose freon(r134)

Okay, I tried putting some R134 in and it leaked right back out in a matter of minutes. What are some ways I can determine where it is leaking from? thanks for the replies.

Note that if your evaporator is leaking it is hard to see since the evaporator is inside the firewall. If you can't find the leak, point the light at the drain for the evaporator. You will see the dye in the drain if the evaporator is your problem. Hopefully not, since they are a pain to replace.

Any part store should have a leak detection kit for sale that comes with a black light, dye, injection tool, and adaptor.

I had a small leak in the condenser, where the line in was attached to this flat connector in the main body. Replaced it and the compressor. 95 with 150K miles. You have to take the front grill off to see the condenser, but it comes right off.
