Car:1991 Honda CRX
Model: HF
Transmission: Manual
Miles: 193K
Color: White
Looks: Looks good, nothing spectacular, could use a new paint job. The Interior looks good except for there is tear in the driver's seat along the edge that the foam is sticking out. It needs new hatch struts.
Performance: The car performs great at speeds over 35mph. The brakes are a little spongy. The CV joints could be replaced for there is a slight clicking in low gears on turns. It comes with brand new tires. The guy says it gets 25mpg which I thought was low for a HF model...well for any CRX. A/C needs fixed. Needs new Battery/Alternator
Price: $1200 (what he is asking) $1000-1100 (what I think he would take for it)

Take it for 1000. I would buy that anyday and get rid of my hatch. Dont worry about the motor and axles or whatever.. I say if the body is in great shape you should consider a swap since HF's are so damn light.

yeah this would be my first car, but wouldn't be able to do a lot with it at first... But eventually I hope to swap the engine, and everything. It doesn't bother anyone that it only gets 25mpg? That is my main concern with it, If he had said it got 30 or up I would definitally buy it, but I know CRX's are supposed to get more than 25mpg.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I just remembered... we had to jump start the car with the guy's new truck. I am not sure if it was because the battery was dead or it needs a new alternator.

take it. it would be worth it to get a tune up rather then to find a crx later for a way worse price. i got mine for 1000 but that was only because the guy was forced to sell it to me for that much but take it for the gas saving anyway and after you have this car you will definatly ber swappin the motor. trust me

How much would it cost to put a new motor in it, one that will last me for a while and is good...I have no clue what b7, b16, and whatever those things mean. If anyone cares to explain that might be helpful. But how much would it cost to put a good engine in it?
Added some things to description. (Miles, A/C problem, battery/alternator problem)

it all depends on what motor man. You could get a slight upgrade by spending $500 on a motor or you could spend $3,000 on an integra gsr motor like I did and have a VERY quick little car. The more you spend wisely the faster you can go

I would want a motor that would be reliable, not necessary zippy right now, but have a good fuel efficiency. For now my CRX will be just to get around town. Eventually, when I have the cash, then I will make it better.

im not positive but if you want a good reliable motor go ahead and get the a jdm single over head cam motor. try looking at some motors on this web site. hmotorsonline.com and these motors are almost no trouble to install and can give you the same gas milage with the extra power. just what i would do but good luck with whatever you choose and good luck with the crx you will fal in love with it

The hf motor is one of the most fuel efficient engines ever produced. I've heard of 55mpg out of a well kept hf engine. Granted, they are slow but if speed is not something you're worried about then just do a tune up (ie. plugs, wires, pcv valve, vaccum hoses, air filter, fuel filter, distributor cap and rotor). Save a few $ in gas and maybe you'll have some $ to swap later.

And I bet that price is way over what I would want it for, and besides...I want the CRX to modify myself... DOn't want to buy a moded one.

So you ripped apart a different crx? Yeah, I had a feeling you wouldn't mess with that sweet ride you have. BTW, I'd be more than happy to make an offer, but I don't want another vehicle that requires high octane fuel... :banghead:

No that was my car that I tore apart....and when I bought it it was being run on regular fuel, and when prices got really high I used regular fuel (from the gascans we had for our generator during the hurricane season)..didnt see any problems..
