OBD2 vs. OBD1

I just came across this article when I was surfing around.

Well, it's true that the OBD II system will detect and compensate the mods that you do on the engine performance (by using the second O2 sensor), that's why alot of people use the OBDII-to-OBDI wire harness to swap in an OBDI ECM.

Basically, the link is just showing you to put a switch inline with the backup memory power source to the OBDII ECM (so you can reset the ECM memory when you are not driving your car), but I personally don't see why this will help in anyway.

By putting the switch in, you are not allowing the ECM to store the fuel map that's best for the engine to perform for fuel efficiency when the engine is off. As soon as you start the engine again, if the engine is in close loop mode, the ECM will start to "detune" or compensate the mods that you did (we are talking about minutes).

So, unless you really need that few minutes of "non-regulate and not necessary the best tuning for your mods" engine run time, I don't see the point of doing this.
