:banghead: :licka: i have had recent nightmares on my lsv8: first horn is on blink now not working at all followed by or maybe before the cruise control is not working along with the now airbag light stays on... now i have the knocking of engine and yesterday the car just about died in a parking lot while driving. the engine light has been on for sometime and it is getting close to death so it seems... what is happening to my car just when i want to trade it up... has 63,900 mi and bought with 7kmi orig in 03'. someone on net says timing is going then pistons? others think its the gas... others who knows please help. the engine in mid driving i can feel a skipping or jumpiing like im going over speed bumps.... the battery almost failed when it almost stalled out, Also... the a.c. goes out when i go over 40 or whenever car starts the skipping vibrating...etc oh yeah the area around where airbag in steering wheel is is soft.... and the horn was not always easy to toot.? ok.. thats it i think i described it all sorry for the length here but its just my luck as usual with cars....

You mention the Check Engine Light (CEL) has been on for sometime now, have you taken the car to get the codes pulled? If the CEL is on, it's because the car's computer has detected an out-of-range condition. Most chain auto parts stores will scan the computer and pull the trouble codes at no charge.

Chances are pretty good that the codes will indicate a misfire on one or more cylinders. It sounds like the symptoms you are describing related to the roughness in the engine are probably due to one or more coil packs (your car has one coil per cylinder). The coils may be failing due to leaking valve cover gaskets.

Since it sounds like you've let this go on for some time, you may have also damaged the oxygen sensors as well as the catalytic converters.

I believe the air bag light may be on due to the wiring getting snagged by the power seat track. Perform a search on this forum for "airbag" and you'll probably find the solution for that issue.

I don't understand these types of posts - it seems that most of your issues can be fixed (based only on what you posted) but you let them pile up then post 'the LS is a piece of junk'.....

Typically we can help you fix each issue.

- horn - easy - fuse, wiring or horn
- air bag light - I agree - almost 100% of the time it's the wiring under the driver's seat or the clockspring
- your stumble issues are not timing, pistons or gas... go get the DTC code pulled by pep boys or autozone - that will tell us what is wrong - usually a well know fix.

:feedback: my problems all came about within 3 weeks i did not drive car for a couple weeks due to tire need replacement horn started not working but was sparatic.... then i one day tried cruise control which i dont normally use so i found out it was not working also then airbag light within a week and a day after the engine light so within a total of one week worths of driving all problems came about... thats when i look on internet and found some blogs about timing issues and engines in ls models just thereafter dying.... i hop pep or autozone can assist with computer diagnostic like recommended.... i dont think any oil is leaking i never had a leak or am currently experiencing any leak whatsoever so valve issue sounds not right... the airbag horn and cruise all seem related engine seems like another issue but thats all i can say until i hear about codes i guess... i need to trade this in this week however so i hope someone can help:screwy: :screwy: :grinno:

A faulty horn/cc/air bag is usually a symptom of a bad clock spring. This can easly be repaired by any shop.

Horn, Cruise Control, and Air Bag: clock spring as per my other post.

Engine light and engine losing power requires a trained technician with the proper diagnostic tools.

I have had many of the same problems! My horn, volume settings, and cruise control all went. It was due to a faulty clockspring. I had it repaired at Lincoln and the problems have all gone away. My LS has also been in the shop three times for coils problems causing mis fires and sputtering! The reason I am on here now is because my LS is in the shop for the fourth time with the same thing, coil problems. Hope I was helpful!
