Taking out trans today... in like 5 hours or so.

How in the hell do you take out a drive shaft / special tools needed?

Isn't there some kind of goofy little circle clip that holds the u-joint / drive shaft thing together... or am I just showing how little I really know about cars???

If I am right (holy shit) do I need special pliers to get the clips out, or will a stout set of needle nose pliers work?

there are 4 bolts the hold the driveshaft to the u joint/inputshaft or whatever that is attatched to the rear end. take those 4 bolts out give the shaft a tap with a 2x4 toward the trans to get it free and then drop it down and slid the other end out of the tail of the trans. easy as pie.

4 bolts in the back end of the driveshaft. They hold 2 C-type lockers, that hold the U- Joint into the Rear end reciever..... It's pretty straight forward, you should have no problem

Thanks fellas... Surgery in 3 hours.....

Oh and I have a Hayes manual... but since so much stuff is NOT factory half of the time it doesn't help.

you really need to shut your dam mouth, he may not have done it before, how else is he suppose to learn, next just keep your dam mouth shut. god im getting sick of these noobs coming in with attitudes and cocky comments, to take it out, remove the four bolts/nuts and the joint by the rearend, push it forward a bit to free it from the rearend, let it drop down a bit then simply pull it out of the trans

Just hope you dont have to replace the u-joints. Thats when i pulled my first drive shaft and it took me almost a whole day to get it back together. Good luck on the tranny.
