Many people, including me get caught up so bad in making there cars fast that they forget what they drive. I use myself for example. I have owned my stealth for almost 2 years now. Im 17. Man i have enjoyed it only about 1 month of that time. Why? Because its a base SOHC ATX.Yeah, it has NO features and its all manual. Point is, ive been so caught up in thinking up ways to fix it. Swaps...harder than hell custom turbo kits,....searching for hours to find performance parts for my SOHC and all of this has made me forget how much Im making a mistake. All this modding wants have made me get so caught up and made me forget how freaking beautifful m car is. Yeah its slow, but everytime im on the highway, it tryes his best to make me happy. And although his best isnt 0-60 in less then 5 seconds(its more like 8 seconds if im lucky) it gets where i need to go and it goes there in style.

The purpose of this is for everyone to stop thinking ab out racing for a bit, and realise that having a 3000GT/Stealth is having a car that many only wish and hope!

I had that same problem when my engine died. I was told by my dad that i could either put another engine in or get a different car. So instantly i started looking for other "faster cars". I looked for about a week and then one day i was washing my car to take pics of it to sell it and i stepped back and looked at it and said "damn, why would i ever want to seell this?" Those were my exact words. So i decided to put an engine in and keep it and it was one of the best decisions i have ever made. Sure my car will only pull a 0-60 in about 10 seconds but it is one of the best looking cars out there IMO. O yeah, and its not bad from a roll:thumbsup:

Your car should have a much quicker 0-60 if its the DOHC. I've taken on a Mazda 6 in my car and it has a time of about 7.3 seconds 0-60. 3kgt is a highway car.

^I remember that kill story. But i have timed my 0-60 and the best i got was 9 seconds but i have had multiple 10 second runs. Its the low that sucks and the 1-2 shift on the auto tranny takes like almost 2 seconds. Idk if its only my car that is like that but i still love it.

First gear sucks hardcore on an ATX. SOHC MTX has a faster 0-60 than a DOHC ATX.

And yeah I hate my car right now. I have driven it 1 1/2 months out of the last 9 months. But I cant stop thinking of ways to make it a little better. It will always be my baby.

WAAAAAHHHHHHH! :crying: :crying: :crying:
I miss my 3000GT!

you know I feel ya r_c_
I remember one night comming home from work a mini van pulled up next to me on the highway. in the back seats of the minivan, second and third row there where three kids. The girl must have been 5 and the boys 4 and 3 but they where just looking over at my car and seemed all mesmerized.
I look over and smile and they smile back with the biggest and cutest grin a child can give you. I give them a big thumbs up and in perfect syncronized maner all three raise thier thumbs back at me.
I drop gears and took off hard and they where jumping up and down out of excitement.
I guess the car just has those lines. Its so exotic and so streamlined no matter what the performance is. It looks like a million bucks and its just an amazing machine to own. sure there are faster cars but if a 5 yearold thinks my car looks "cooler" then thats all I need to make me happy.
I drove home that night so satisfied and so in love with my car.
they really are special rides.

Stealthee, thanks bro i'll take that as a compliment and I'll let her know, she'll be flattered! :grinno:

Yeah, i'll post up more pics tomorrow when I get to work and post them on the off topic forum, dont wanna hijack this one.

Sports, bro I had 150,000 miles on my car and I ran her every day to tripple digits, I auto crossed it, I street raced it, I took it to the track. The engine on the 3000GT is nuke proof if you stay ontop of the maintenance schedule and even if you pick one up for say 4K and put 3K into heads and bottom end, you'll have a car that will last you for ever even if you abuse on it constantly. They are dream cars bro.

Yeah they aren't the greatest in 0-60. They really like to shine on the highway. They are geared high (so it seems to me) and do most of their showing off at speeds of 50+mph. You get a SOHC on a highway and its lunch.

Wow, most people appreciate their cars by trying to get everyone else to look at them and go "wow i wish i had that car" but few people actually appreciate their own car without caring what other people think. thats refreshing.

^I agree. Everyone is so obsessed with how "pimped" their ride is, they forget why they fell in love with it in the first place.

Heres a little history on my car.

Going into High School wasn't all too fun for me. I was moving into an entirely different district, and had to make all new friends. One guy took me under his wing. That guy, Jon, became one of my closest friends throughout all of my high school career. He taught me all the things that my father should have, got me into cars, and taught me how to drive. Every day I pray that he's safe, because he is now in the Marines, and is serving a 1 year tour in Iraq. His first car, a Honda Civic SI was...well...slow. We had nicknamed him Turtle because his car was so slow. Then, he upgraded to the 3000GT that I own today. Seeing it for the first time was like watching a gorgeous super model walking across a stage. It seemed to move in slow motion, the paint gleaming its beautiful black luster, and the engine revving all the way to redline. It was love at first sight, and I told him that once he didn't want his car, I'd gladly take it off his hands. At the time, it was just the idle day-dreams of a high school kid, but a few years later it became a reality. To this day, I still love my car, not just for the looks it gets, but for the memories that I can cherish because of it.

Thanks Mitsubishi!

I am kinda both ways. Its my car and I will do with it what I please. I love it more and more the more I get it how I want it. But the more I do to it the more I appreciate compliments I get. The props from everyone makes all the time, energy and money well worth it.

I find it refreshing when someone your age appreciates there car for what it has to offer. I have to admit that I’m one of those people that have issues with comparing my car to others, heck at the age of 17 I spent 2 years looking to replace my previous VR-4 (clean as hell first gen, the mags that I have on my current 3kgt are actually off that car) with a 3kgt with no less than 500+hp ATW.

I listen too much to the negative things that people have to say about our cars here in NZ. People in NZ generally own 500+hp Skylines, Holdens, Evo’s…. but never the 3kgt, why???, where did all of this hating start, you’ll probably find that it is at its worst in NZ than most places on this planet. Why??? it only took 12 months after owning my current car to want to look for a replacement with more HP.

I’ve taken my car up to 280kph on a daily basis trying to prove to myself that our cars are not slow. Race all ricers, yea I think its given me a name lol they call me the GTOkid they ask why I’m not at there gatherings on Fridays/Saturdays any more lol although Its still not enough, do we need a movie like fast & Furious to publicise our car????

Ralliart: I don't know so much if I would want our cars to be on a F&F movie. I kind of like having a car that few people have seen on TV because it makes it a little more special in my opinion. I say keep em' under the radar and surprise the unexpecting.

^ there was actually a dodge stealth in 2F2F... but it had on a body kit which completly replaces the stock front bumper with something foreign (it's not like an addition or a tweak) and IMO makes the car look nasty...

Its not actually in the movie. Its in the prelude on the DVD. Its a first gen ES with a horrid Erebuni body kit. The guy used to post on 3si but hasnt posted in awhile.

I actually dont mind the body kit. However I could do without all those scoops.

Edit: I just noticed that the Stealth is not even a TT (or at least stock it wasn't) because it doesnt have the boost guage on it. Instead it has the volt reading for the battery.

Has anyone seen Jojo's 3kgt, that was supposed to feature in the new F&F movie. That thing looked awsome. I don't think that stealth lookes too good with that kit makes it look like a sperm whale with the front wide open like that.

below are some pics of Jojo's car, man that first gen looks phat!!!
