Gotian and Musashi, a night on the town.

Well a little north of our city anyways. We went to a car show/meet that is sponsored by the scca. it was fun and we got to meet a few cool people there, especially this one guy with a 5.0 mustang who was a buddy of my friend that we met up with there. It was a group of us there, me, Musashi, my g/f and cousin, musashi's wife, and another friend who drives an STI (who get mad props cause a chick said she'd do him for his car.:bigthumb:

So on our way home I got caught at a light. Using my walkie I tell them to just keep going and I'll catch up. Next to me rolls up a black SRT-4, I turn my traction on ( I usually drive with it off if I wanna have fun with some turns) The light turns green and I take off gripping the tires instantly with the SRT not too far behind on the launch. My destination was to catch up to the STI which was more than 1/2 a mile away with his hasards on waiting for me. Through first I put his nose to my bumper and have the lead. I shift to 2nd at 6500 and break traction, I still have the same distance lead on him. I'm coming up onto 6500 again and he managed to creep a little going to about the handle on my rear right door, I shift to 3rd and he's back to my rear bumper. 4th comes along and there is no gain by either party. I shift to 5th and we blow right by the STI. We are now going about 120 and there is no gain from either of us, Musashi was waiting at the next light and asked if that was me coming up behind him and my g/f told him yeah that I was racing. I shut off at about 135 still having the lead on the SRT. I couldnt believe that I just beat an SRT on a straight legitimate race off the line.

Now just so you people know, I'm not saying I can beat every SRT and that my car is like superman, all I'm saying in this kill story is that I beat this one and I'm damn proud of it.

Now this one was funnier then it was exciting.
We were now on the highway and an orange CRX comes beside me. we pace for a good 1/2 mile and I ask musashi if I should take this one. I'm still excited over the SRT run. When I asked Musashi I actually heard my fast talking to me. It possessed my cousin and made her say "yes" I raced it from a roll of 60 and beat it by about 5 cars to 120. I slow down so could get back with musashi and the guy does a flyby. Musashi and I catch up to the guy again and the guy decides to race musashi. (why would you try to race a GTO if you got smoked by a Jetta?) Well Musashi kept the car in 6th gear from what it seemed (correct me if I'm Wrong) and smoked the guy without taking it above 3000 RPMs and through his hazards on. The guy tried musashi again and got the same result. So now after doing this the crx cuts infront of me since I was just following Musashi. And we decide to box him in using a big Semi on our right. We kept him there for a good 2 minutes and then let him go. He dropped a gear and took off, I let him have at least 4 car distance between us and I took off after him catching up at about 120mph. After that we just went home.

He has it chipped and we elliminated the ressonator nothing more. Its boosting 11 psi though which is really tight.

Yeah the first run I was doing 1800 rpms in 6th. When the CRX dropped gears I meshed it and took it up to 3000rpms which is about 100 mph. the second time I dropped to 5th and then kick 6th in again. Im not supposed to rev it too high since Im still breaking it in.

oh and as for the SRT4 , shit yeah he beat it. I could see the two pairs of light comming up behind me and Gotian was walking him. When the SRT-4 got next to me he was pissed. He looked like he was gonna go home and burn his car and piss on the ashes! BOOYAAH!

Musashi as far as the break-in goes, it's OK to rev it to 5000-5500RPM or so during break-in. Do not keep it at the same RPM for extended periods of time though. On the hwy I would shift between 5&6 every couple of minutes or so to keep the RPMs varying.

Once you hit 500mi feel free to really open her up. The engine only gets stronger as it loosens up. Wait till you hit the 5000mi mark.

The R32 comes with a naturally aspirated VR6 motor Danno. The one you raced at the track was just supercharged. The turbocharged Jettas come in several flavors, depending on year. Some of them have a 1.8 liter turbocharged 20V 150hp motor, others a 1.8 liter turbocharged 20V 175hp motor, and now the newest one has a 2.0 liter turbocharged 20V 200hp motor. Or atleast that is my recollection.

Oh, and good kill Gotian. Dunno how much power you added with your minimal mods, but it sounds like your car scoots. I'm interested in seeing what track times you pull.

Hey Danno, thank you for the advise. Ive been varying the revs constantly and trying to get it broken in right, Ive reved her to 5K already I just try to not do it every day you know?

Gotian should be putting down 190-195 whp by my calculations but theymight be off a bit. the Jetta transfers power to the wheels extremely well. He should be runing high 14s.
we'll see soon enough.

SOLD! The son of one of my employees was interested and made me a good offer on it. I sold it but I still see it daily and the kid that bought it is learning to drive it very well. He might just end up joining me and Gotian in our little race team. Gotian has plans for him so we'll see how it all turns out.

They're about as different from a Neon as a 03-04 SVT Cobra is to a 99-04 Mustang GT.

They may look similar, but everything under the body panels is different.

Motor is different, tranmission is different... even the rear suspension is different.

That is my opinion, and I don't much care how fast they are. At the end of the day you are still driving a Dodge Neon.... And plus I drove one and it was awful. The interior was hideous and very unsporty. Not only was it unsporty, but it was also uncomfortable. It was stupid hard to get traction in, and was only fun from a roll.

I used to have a SRT-4. Bought it first year they came out before the hype started. I gotta admit the 70-30 weight distribution is a joke and yes its a FWD that can only go straight. The wheels are thin, 205 thin. the grip on those tires sucks, the rear windows are cheap roll-em-downs, the boost lag is tremendous and the body is so thin that hitting bugs will dent you bumper, the seats are made from pleather and the plastic finish is real cheap.

Other then that they are awsome bang for the buck. you get so much power and speed for so little dough. Thats what really sold the car to me. That and the fact I was a broke ass college kid at the time. What more can u ask for on a Toys "r" us sallary?

Still its the attitude of people that brings it so much hate. most of the guys that buy them are ex-ricers who drove shitty cars and now they got more power then they ever thought possible (like in my case). So they go mad crazy and have no respect for other enthusiest till they get owned hard.

I agree with you on some points but "the boost lag was tremendous" are you sure you didnt have a WRX....cause out of all the turbo cars I have ever driven the small baby turbo on the srt has zero to no lag period....and skinny 205s well mine came with 255s.....and as far as being cheap yes it is compared to all the other cars in its class but it still kind of price to a person who doesnt make much and has tons of bills including a brand new car, truck, and bike that is all payed for by himself...

well considering the boost response on my Starion, my Talon, Gotian's V-Dub and my friend's TT Camaro......yes, it has alot of lag. The WRX is not lag though. thats a boost resservation with a 1 hour seating delay! :wink:
