Recharging air conditioning

I took my car into the mechanic today and he said that i have a leak in one of the hoses for the air conditioner and I would have to get it recharged after the hose is fixed. Is there anyway i could do this myself or would it be to dangerous/ difficult. Thanks

difficult unless you know exactly what your doing. and you need the right equipment which isnt cheap.
