There is such a thing

Besides what paul said...
its also illegal in some states... though i dont see a problem with it. My friend used to have it on his truck. Somehow a policment found it out and he had like 30days to remove it or face some hefty fines. I live in FL.

So where do you go about buying something like this

He personally made it. Transformer + Capasitor. not a real complicated circut. Get a transformer that can step voltage up from 12v to 300v+. Use the transformer to charge the capasitor. From the capasitorwire two plates seperated by just enough to keep them from arcing which are mounted on the inside of the exterior door handle. Or wire a row of plates. When you arm the system the transformer charges the capasitor. If someone completes the circut across the plates thenhtey will get a hefty shock. I wouldnt reccomend doing it without some good electronic knowledge. The capasitor should be able to handle your charge voltage and should be a low farad rating to keep the current on discharge low. you dont want any burns/cardiac arrest, just a jolt to the nerves. Also, you will need a way to discharge the capasitor when the system is disarmed or else when you try to open the door you will get a shock every time. I would draw you a schematic BUT i beleive that if you dont have the knowledge to build it yourself you shouldnt be building it for risk of killing/serisouly injuring someone.

There is a company that makes them. Dont know the name and i dont know if you can even buy them in the US.
