86 Pontiac 6000 2.8L 2 Barrel Carb

Car starts every morning. If the car sits for more than 1 hour hard starting or no start and smell of gas. It will start in 2 cranks if under a hour. Any idea what the problem could be ? Thanks for any help.

It sounds like the float is stuck in the carb. You may have to rebuild it to get it to work properly. Next time this happens try tapping on the float bowl of the carb and then see if it will start. If so a rebuild is in order.

Thanks for your help. Found the problem. Ignition control module was going,car flooded when no spark condition. Replaced module and problem gone.

Works for me. If there is not spark they will flood easily. Thanks for the update.
