Hi everyone. I'm in need of help from the Tahoe Forum. I have a 2004 Z71 Tahoe that has had challenges since new. Literally, from day one the transmission did not operate properly. From the first time I took it in to the dealership with problems at 125 miles until the trans failed at 16,000 miles, the three dealers I took it to "could not pull a code" and therefore could not find anything wrong with it. At 40,000 the "Service 4WD" light came on and $800 later I have a new encoder. Sixty days after that the "Service 4WD" light comes back on and another (but different) encoder is replaced for $700. Now the "Service 4WD" light comes back (on and off) and steering column rattles and clunks so I take it to the dealership here in Kalamazoo. Oh, the tranny is acting up again and shifts between 3rd and 4th when pulling my empty Haulmark 7X`12 motorcycle trailer. Well, they can't find the problems with the trans and the "Service 4WD" but still charged $140 for diagnostic work. By the way, the steering column was $130 since I missed the warranty by 2,100 miles.
QUESTION: Has anyone had similar problems with the "Service 4WD" transfer case? Has anyone had or having similar problems with their transmission? And has anyone had GM pay for the "grease kit", after 75,000 miles, to fix the steering column?
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any help or suggestions you have.

I have a 2000 Yukon.
Service 4WD Light - I replaced the switch in the dash. Has not come on since.
Transmission - No problems, yet.
Steering Column - I bought the grease kit ($15) and installed it myself. No noise since.
