Jerky Car

Hey..my boyfriend has a 1998 Mustang GT i'm trying to figure out something about his car. For the last couple of days our car has been very jerky. when he's accelerating it doesnt do it but as he lets off the gas its jerky. Also when he starts the car when it starts idoling or whatever its like a bumpy feeling. It really sucks and we took it to a mechanic place to get it fixed or to see what the problem was and they said it might be a spark plug. I'm not paying for something that they're not sure about. So any advice would be great or if this has happened to someone else. I was searching online and found some stuff where they said it could be a fuel problem/fuel mix or even a vacuum leak. please help me. thank you so much.

you and your boyfriend should pull the plugs and check them for damage before you take it back to a mechanic. this is something even the novice motor head can do and not have to worry about messing things up. just be sure to pull one plug at a time and to hook it right back up after checking it out as to not confuse the order of the plug wires. if a plug or two have physical damage or seem especially dirty let us know, maybe even post an image of them.

And well we got our friend to look at it for us and he put new spark plugs like all of them..and he said there was like antifreeze on one of them so we need to get that checked but i mean it runs great now just his check engine lights on. did the mechanic check the motor mounts? sounds characteristically like the motor mounts or bushings in motor mounts are going or gone. when you accelerate the the motor will move or lurch drastically in engine compartment enough for you to actually feel it while sitting in the car, making you think you might be having tranny problems.

no i dont think he did check the motor mounts..but our friend did look at it and he bought new spark plugs and changed them all now the check engine lights on and he checked it with one of those machines that says whats wrogn with whatever..like that little computer thing and he said its mm i think he said it was a ERI? or something like that something he said we didnt have to buy right now but we do need to get it eventually. I mean its not jerky anymore luckily..his just check engine lights on. But i'll definately ask him about what you said and get our friend to look at it. Thanks for your help
