MY 1988 Chevy Full size with a 350 V8 ... The steering gets real hard about half way around a corner :frown: ...This is dangerous ! This happens after the engine is warmed up about 20 minutes ...Until it is warmed up the power steering is just fine ...Then you go around a corner and it feels just like it does when you try to steer it with the engine off it is really hard ...Is it the steering pump? or that big steering unit down at the end of the steering column ? Anyone had this problem ?? I have put in a new serpentine belt and that seems to be ok ...There is NO noise when it does this like when the belt is slipping and the engine does not seem to " load down " at all when it does it ... You can email me direct if you want just click on my email address ... [email protected] THANKS ! :uhoh: "SORE ARMS BOB in Michigan "

I would say it is time for a new pump. Just ran into this same type problem on an F150.
