i purchased a 87 nissan sentra station wagon and have had no problems with it untkl just recently. i was driving along when the car stalled out and died. i took a look under the hood (and i dont know how it happened) but somehow the oil cap managed to get popped off and a small quantity of oil had pumped out onto the engine block. the engine didnt cease and i replaced the oil cap but it wont fire. now i have no spark and my fuel pump seems to be going out on me and i cant seem to figure out why that is. i testyed the starter and it seems to be working properly. if someone knows the location of the fuel pump and hoew to remove it that would be great too. any help would be greatly appreciated.

dont know about the fuel pump on older sentras, maybe in the tank, but your distributor may be gone, try replacing that first as lack of oil may cause your rotor on teh stributor to get ruinified

Hopefully your 87 is like my 92, where the fuel pump is under the back seat, just tear it out and there you go.

thnx about that help on the distributor. it just so happens that after i posted this i went out and pulled off the distributor and to my surprise there was a rock the size of a quarter in it. dont ask me how it happened but it did. that would explain why the car was running so poorly. i will also check under the seat for the fuel pump.

clean or replace your fuel filter as well, your pump may be fine but if your filter gets slightly clogged you could see a performance issue.......it should either be under the back seat or in the fuel tank, which you should also be able to get to through the back seat

thx i checked the fuel filter and it isnt clogged. it was located on driver side firewall near the top. i also located the fuel pump. it was on the center of the back side of the engine block. the only question is how do i remove it without totally dismantling the entire intake system...
