93 altima starter

sometime when I started the car it sounded like the starter made a winding sound.but now the starter will not even engauge.. once before this happened and I found that the ground cable had a build-up on it where it meet the body ,,,,any help ??? the car is a 5 speed

If you hear noise from the starter like it is spinning, remove the starter. More than likely the starter drive is broken inside. Inspect the teeth on the flywheel ring gear for damage. Replace the starter with a good starter.

I took the starter off and that was the problem but no one side it would be easyer to remove the air box cover and hose from the intake to get to the bolt heads...but after I figerd this out it took no time to reinstall ...thanks
