Hey guys, I've been trying to find a serial code on the tranny of my 81' Z28 but its so gunked up I can't find much. It has a 350 motor in it so I am asuming that it should have the th350 being as it is the z28 model but I am having trouble finding info to confirm that. Can any of you help me out with? Thanks

thanks guys, jcrane my haynes manual has the same pics to id it and also shows the th-200 which looks the same as 350 only the cut off corner is on the other rear corner which is where it is on my car. However this is where it gets confusing because the rest of the gasket matches the 350 as in the number of bolts and the rounded cut out at the front where the 200 has more rectangular. Would it be possible for the 350's pan to be opposite from what that picture shows? Like I said before I am assuming its 350, there just wouldn't be much sense in putting a 350 engine in a sport model then plug it up to the smallest tranny used in the 2nd gen camaros.

Turbo Hydramatic 350
Used throughout the Second Generation Camaros production run, this was the standard duty V8 automatic transmission. Prior to 1973 it was the optional transmission on the lower powered 350 engines. In 1973 it became the optional transmission on the 6 cylinder and 307 engines. In 1975 it became the only automatic transmission available up until 1981.
so if you have the original trans it is a th350
