I have been thinkin about doing an overhaul on my stereo. Do you think that 4 12's would drown out my 6.5 inch 3-way and 2-way components? I think it would be cooler to have 3 or 4 12's in the trunk intstead of just having one that can handle just as many watts, like those Audiobahns or Memphis that can handle like 1500 rms. I got the Best Buy ghetto system now, my subs are only 185 RMS in a bandpass box. My components can handle 90 RMS I think, but they are bein pushed by the 45x4 Aiwa HU. So I guess my overall question is:

WIll more bass require me to get more mids and highs?

if you're afraid that the bass might overpower the mids and highs, you can always turn your gains lower, reducing the output of the subs. what kind of components are they? if they're powered by the headunit, i would say you need more power for them. for christ sakes...if you're going to use components, always power them with an external amp.

if you properly tune your system, the bass will never drown out ur mids-highs, cuz they are getting different frequencies.
