High pitched whine

When I set the keys of my car to the position previous to Start, the injection light appears on the panel for a few seconds, as I was told by the representative it indicates the injection computer is doing auto checking. Along the light you can hear a high pitched whine that goes off when the light goes off.
Yesterday I noticed that this high pitched whine continued as I start the engine, the noise of the engine hides it but paying due attention you can hear it there.
Now, I don’t have any idea what this noise is and if it should persist after the engine starts, could you help me understanding what is it all about?
Thanks Gustavo.-

Knowing what sort of car it is always helps. :)
But my first guess would be its the fuel pump.
This runs as soon as you turn the ignition on and pressurises the fuel system.

Moppie:
Is a Fiat Palio 1300 cc multi point injection 8 valves gasoline feeded.
My question is if it could be sign of any problem or if is normal.
Thanks Gustavo.-

What year is it?
I doubt it's anything abnormal.
All electric pumps are quite noisy, and on most cars they are actualy in the fuel tank, which dampens the noise.
However some cars, especialy older injected ones will have the pump in the boot, under the car, or in the engine bay.
In these cars it's quite common to be able to hear it.
The other option is its some like and engine fan running constantly, or interferance from the ignition system effecting the radio.
But thier both easy to spot, if you open the bonnet you'll soon know if the fan is running. And you will be able to hear any interferance coming from the speakers.
