TODAY WHEN I WAS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE I HEARD A NEW NOISE COMING FROM MY ENGINE..ITS COMING FROM NEAR THE BELT..IT SOUNDS LIKE A FAN IS ON BUT ITS NOT THE RADIATOR FAN...I DONT KNOW IF THIS NOISE JUST STARTED BECAUSE I PUT IN A NEW LOUD SYSTEM IN MY CAR THAT MAY BE TAKING AWAY TOO MUCH POWER...IM STILL NOT SURE AND WOULD VERY MUCH APPERICIATE ANY SUGGESTIONS TO WHAT IT MIGHT BE..THANKS ALL:confused: :p

ok man..

Turn off the sound system, and then start the engine, if you hear the sound again, pop the hood and look if there is fan working, also check your engine oil and radiator water.

I DICONNECTED THE SYSTEM AND MY OIL AND RADIATOR LEVELS ARE FINE, THE RADIATOR FAN WORKS BUT THE NOISE IS COMING FROM NEAR THE BELT, IT MAKES A SOUND LIKE A FANS ON , BUT THERE IS NO FAN NEARBY.I STILL HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT COULD BE, IT ALSO FEELS LIKE THE CAR LOST SOME POWER WHEN I ACCELERATE.
THANKS ONCE AGAIN FOR ANY INFO.

perhaps something is rubbing, or the belt is slipping.

when my dad gets home in a little while i can ask him what it is, he is a mechanic so will have a much better idea than me:)

i asked my dad and he sed it is more than likely that the belt is slipping, but you need to get it looked at cos its hard to say wots wrong without seeing it.

it could be your altenator. when you overstress your altenator by putting in a system, or massive amounts of lights, etc. the altenator makes a sort of whining noise that can become quite loud at some points. it may be dying, so have it checked out. you can get an aftermarket alt that puts out higher amount of amps. this should help with the system and take care of that noise.

Its the ball bearing of your alternator, It could be, that when large amounts of energy are required from the alternator, the belt has a tougher job, and the ball bearing from the alternator pulley gets the extra pull from the belt, and just had it. Replace it

Loud System = Lots of Amps
Lots of Amps = Heavy strain on charging system
Heavy strain on charging system = Premature failure of charging system devices

Pretty simple math don't ya think?

Your alternator is telling you something.........Guess whats it's saying?

thanks fellow max owners for the info , but i had the alternator checked and its on full power, the system is still disconnected and it still makes that noise..im hoping maybe with the system disconnected that the noise will go away but its been 4 days and its still there...i guess i just have to wait and see what comes out of it...i kind of taught it was one of my belts but i cant really get a close peek at them because of their location , but from what i can see they look fine , i dont know if this is normal but it looks like one belt has a wiggle to it even though it still runs smooth...but i dont think thats where the noise is coming from....does anyone know what those belts are for., i lost my manual and i know each cars different with the belts working something??
thanks once again:D :flash:    :sun: :smoker2: :eshooter:  :apoke: :greenchai :evillaugh :monkeypis :bathroom: :lol2: :toothless
