About the dude saying he saw a lady filling up her car with diesel, I call bullshit. Diesel pumps are larger so that you can't put diesel in your car.
The one about the car running into the classroom is iffy too. She laid on the clutch and ran the car through the building? How? If she layed on the clutch, all she'd do is rev the engine.
I also call BS on the main story. No one is that stupid.

not true. i know someone i go to school with accidentally put a full tank of diesel into his brand new celica. he was about to drive away when the person pumping gas next to him was like "uh dude..are u sure u wanted diesel in there?" so yes it is possible.

The Diesel spout are fatter, for a reason. They don't fit in your little hole thingy. They're also a different color, so that when they don't fit, you see you grabbed a green one, which means diesel.

some older gas stations dont even have colored nozels (they're all black) let alone different sizes.and ive seen someone put diesel in there car too
also i was at a gas station in southern mississippi and one of the hoses had a leak so the owner just took a shop rag and some hose clamps and fixed it up nice an purty

Oh man, if this girl lives near Philly, I think I met her last week.
I'm at a Lucas Oil filling up my mom's Subaru, and there is a little blonde girl on the opposite pump, just standing there, staring at the pump with her card in hand. After I've put 7 or so gallons in my car, and she is still just standing there, I ask her if she needs any help.
She explains her dilemma: The sign on the pump says prepay or slide credit card first, however, there has already been gas pumped, which she thinks hasn't been paid for, and she doesn't want to be charged for it. (You know how if you pump and pay, the numbers stay visible until the next person slides their card and starts pumping) Well apparently she had never realized this before, so I tried to explain it to her...but to no avail. :banghead:
She nods, smiles, and then as I walk away, she gets in her SUV, and does a 30pt turn and moves to the pump on the other side, which surprise surprise has the "exact same problem". I gave up and left, and I'm guessing she did the same.

The Bell Curve:
Einstein and company on one end
These morons on the other.
I know a guy filled up his motorcycle with diesel. Dumbass. The girl that did it probably tried for 2 minutes to put the fatter hose in her tank, then held it in there - very carefully, so as not to spill - while she pumped.

no, it is possible to put a diesel pump in a petrol car, my dad did it. then decided to ignore my advice to empty the tank, clean it and re-fill it with petrol. instead he floored it back to the apartment (about 110) with what petrol was in the fuel system. so there, it is possible.

in the UK it's all self-service. i've never once seen a filling station where somone else operates the pumps.
also the pump colours are as follows (if i remember correctly)
blue - cheap stuff - 93 octane
red - intermediate - 95 octane
green - ultra/best - 98/100 octane
black - diesel - unsure of cetane rating
im pretty sure the rest of europe follows that too.

Yep. But it's funny that here in SC we pump our own damn gas but in NJ somebody does it for you, and yet the price of gas in both states remains consistently similar.

I believe they use a different measuring formula for their octane levels, so it's really the same.

To the guy that wasnt beleive the story about diesel in a gas car. My freind has a 1990 dodge ram cummins diesel, he went to a full serve gas station once and the lady put gas in, he looked back and saw when there was about 20 bucks worth in so he just told her to not charge for that and fill the rest with diesel and he was on his way. Then jsut the otehr day i was driving in the truck with him and he pointed out the gas station that did that and as we looked over we saw the attendant filling up a car with the yellow nozzle......... DIESEL ! id be pissed!

i've heard that but i'm not sure whether it's true. my friend runs his drag car on like 125 octane or something mad.
i think the method of calculation for octane rating is something like the petrol/gas' ease of combustion in relation to that of pure octane. that's probably wrong. i thought my chemistry text book had the formula but it doesn't.

+1, infact, i think of the teens who don't drive like they're personally in fast and the furious everyday, are more responsible drivers than most adults. I think some are just mature enough to understand responsibility, and not wanting to pay out their asses for insurance if they end up doing something stupid, or afraid to taint a clean record.

Im a teen and consider myself more of a responsible driver than alot of adults (at least in the town i live in ) Ya ill spin my tires here and there but only at a good time when noones around. The only time ive gotten speeding tickets (3 in my 2 years of driving) has been when im running way late to get to school which is an hour drive from my house.
My freinds..... now thats another fucking story, this weekend one guy was driving up the mtn drunk as fuck goin down the old dirt roads doin 60 in a tercel. Right hand corner came fucker didnt turn, flew off the road bounced the driver side door off a tree which gave him enough momentum to jump 20 feet through the air over a 10 foot drop to a creek, then hit off the side of the ditch again and slid between two trees. Needless to say in the morning we had to tow him out with a buddies 4x4. So because of his stupidty we decided to give him a run for his money. The battery had been stoeln so we had to tow him to the bottem of the mtn, made him bouce around the road allll the way down if we saw a huge pot hole weed make sure we draged him through it hahha.
Then 3 days later hes bought a new P.O.S this time its a rear wheel drive, his first one ever. He decided to show off for freinds in a diff car spun his tires started to swerve into the other lane that just so happend had a cop in itt, the cop pulls him over and starts questioning him, turns out he didnt have his insurance or regestration in the truck and for some fucking reason the cop let him off. That pisses me off he doesnt get a ticket for driving liek a crazy sack of shit and i get a ticket for goin 15 kph over the speed limit on the highway.

This reminds me of something that happened to a friends brother. Some girls in a Saturn pulled up to the diesel pumps at the gas station where he worked. One came in and asked him why the nozel for the diesel pump wouldn't fit in their car, and he told them that it was because their car is powered by gas, and not diesel. She tells him that she thinks the saturn is a diesel, and then goes back outside. They attempt to pump diesel into the saturn with their hands cupped around the nozel spilling oil everywhere, and once satisfied that they were full enough left the gas station.
What happened a little later is anyone's guess.

This makes more sense now. Years ago when I was a kid (early 80's), my sister had a diesel Chevette in NJ and the attendent put gas in her diesel car. So I guess gas pump will fit a diesel but not the other way around. Anyway, it fucked that car up.
