steamy mess

Whenever it is rainy or cold outside I have to keep the defroster on high for the entire time I'm in the car just to keep the windshield and rear clear. But the windows stay steamy and there is condensation on the inside of the windshield too the whole time. In every other car I am in the windows clear off, does anyone know why this happens in the 3000gt?

Havn't driven mine in the rain or cold for quite awhile, but I remember being astonished at how quickly my vr4 would defrost the windshield. Actually more so than any other car I'd driven...so I don't think it's 3000gts as a whole. Do you put on the heat or AC?

I would also check for:
1) Do you have a leak in the car (IE: is under the truck or floor wet?) It could by why it's taking so long to dry up.
2) Does your vents smell? It could be the drainage holes in the vent are plugged and not letting the condensation on the Air Con Evaporator drain out.

when i defrost my car, i turn the A/C on. it helps A LOT. almost counter-intuitive, but try it.

so does mine
i have to use it hear and there when i'm driving, but i do know
when i drive in the rain and put on the heater, it fogs up pretty fast
but as long as here and there if i turn on the ac, the windows are defrosted

I drive in the rain and snow and cold alot. What i do is just turn the mode to defrost and feet at the same time, turn it up to like 78-80 degrees, and avoid breathing hard directly at your windows

Number one once the car is warm put the vents to outside air. Also if this keeps happening I would inspect your heater core. If it actually fogs more when you turn on the defroster then the heater core is most likely faulty.

^^ True, unless you have allowed your car time to heat up and the inside is warm as well. You shouldn't have any fog on the windows if the inside is well heated.

The a/c comes on to remove moisture from the air at least according to Mitsubishi. however when defogging the window clears faster by using cooler air because you are matching the air temp to the window temp. Defrosting needs to warm a window to remove ice crystals and unless the air is moist cold normally does not work.

thanks, I will try keeping it on cold instead of on the warmer side. Hopefully now that its spring it won't really need the heat on until the fall.
