Poltergeist door locks

I have a 2003 Mountaineer with automatic door locks. This winter when I locked remotely they would continuously lock and unlock. I finally discovered that if I held the manual lock down I could get the cycling to stop. Then they began to do it in the middle of the night, the result my battery would be dead in the morning.

A local ford dealer took a whack at the problem but that just ended up with no conclusion and a lot of $$ out the door. I told them to disconnect the automatic locks but that is connected to a power seat. Not a good solution, but right now the only solution. Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution to it?

I have the same problem with my 98'. It only seems to happen when driving in wet weather. I have pulled out the fuse so they stop trying to lock. When it gets dry out, I put the fuse back in. I know what a pain in the rear, but is a cheap fix for now. I hate mechanic's....

I would check for a door lock relay. Relays can get a mind of there own when moisture and age come into factor. They are a cheep start that you can do yourself. Good Luck
