hoses, and by-pass hoses on these engines. 4 of them are routed to the oil cooler and back to the block, and 8 of them are primary for the engine itself.
How many of you have replaced ALL 12 of these hoses?
2 Radiator (upper/lower)
2 heater hoses
2 throttle hoses
1 by-pass
1 oil cooler pipe to block
1 oil cooler to oil cooler to pipe
2 feed & return hoses at oil cooler
1 (3 peice) Vent T-hose (under the top of the engine)

do you need to change them al out? i'd say only replace the warn/ bad hoses as they go bad.
but i guess preventative maintainance is good.
you just about have a brand new engine don't you???....

I didn't get them all, but I got most of them. I also changed out the larger of the 2 coolant pipes up top. It was getting corroded. $70 I think. Should last the life of the rig.

would it be worth going with a larger hose? (if such a thing) to hold more coolant?
is that possible?
is that possible?

The edges of the 2 top heater core to block pipes on mine had a bit of corrosion. Didn't change them out though, didn't look too bad.

I just bought the upper and lower radiator hoses at Advance Auto, this thread has me thinking I should change the others as well. They do look like a pain to get to.

Trying to "prevent" from having to have a brand new engine actually - everything internally in the engine itself is original.
Just major preventative maintenance, as I've had to replace an engine before on another vehicle do cooling system failure - it's not pleasant. If I didn't like the truck so much, or if I was interested in selling/trading within the next year, I wouldn't worry; but she's a keeper, runs REAL good, and with the exception of these last 6 months, haven't hardly put a dime in her in 9yrs. Besides, if I keep her on the road another 3-4yrs, I'll regain every time put in now and then some.
