no there easy as hell to install...just jack up the front...get under there remove the four bolts from the rear end yolk or whatever its called and then it slided of the tranny and just reverse to put it back in...you might have to take it out and rotate it so it is balanced on there

well after you put the aluminum driveshaft on you might or might not get vibrations...if you do thats when you take it off and rotate it and just keep doing that till the vibrations are gone...

what kind of person would want to get the shaft from john anyway

lol apparently, johns shaft is appealing to some people here. a few of them have gotten his shaft and seem satisfied.

John has the best shaft around, lol :grinyes: . I sent you a PM back. The driveshaft will be balanced when it arrives. PS  , I have a contract with a local carton company now, so no more homemade boxes for me :disappoin . Wow, I have sold to alot of you guys now, I think Elf boy has one of mine, Cross eye's has one of mine, that dude that loves my boxes, the guy who is blind in a eye he calls x, the lord of the poop and the guy who loves Zelda a little too much and steals F-body pictures to put in his sig.

One person out of the 200 - 300 I have sold has said he has some vibration which I offered a refund or exchange to them (there option) but I check the balance prior to them getting sent out so hopefully that one issue was from something else. I also rebalance if necessary, after I install the new joints I recheck the balance using a shop tool I bought specifically for that. Out of the 120 or so I sold threw ebay, all positive feedback and the dozen or so I sold threw here and a few other F-body sites. I have had only one issue with vibration, so I think that makes the percentage somewhere in the .005 - .00333 that anyone will have a vibration issue after installing one of my driveshafts.

and that one person hasnt had the time to go to a shop competant enough to balance tires. 120 is ok but 130-135 gets a little rough. :) Temperature seems to effect it too.... odd....

ok...sorry to step in this thread but...so my driveshaft most likely wasnt balanced ...it had some weights and it came from a 01 ss...or is it most likely my u joints because after i put in my tranny (which meant taking the shaft off and putting it back on) my vibrations got worse...

Is it a aluminum Driveshaft or one of the steel one's?

Are the U-joints stock, do you know?

tcfco2005
04-12-2006, 02:11 PM
ya there stock...to my knowledge...i havnt changed them yet...do you recomend changing them?

FormulaLT1
04-12-2006, 03:52 PM
Well , a bad U-joint could cause vibration but they tend to make noise way before that. Like a clunking on accelerating and sometimes on deaccelerating. The driveshaft didn't have any dents in it, did it?

tcfco2005
04-12-2006, 11:22 PM
nope and its not making any noise...i was looking at it more today and trying to find out whats wrong and unfortunately i think its my flywheel...i hope its not but it seems to be..i didnt check the motor mounts for some dumbass reason but ill check those tommorow...i think its the flywheel because i still get some vibrations when the car is in park and i bring the revs up..i was also thinking it could be the torque converter.?
but the vibrations happen at a lower rpm the faster im going like in 1st it starts in like 3500+ rpms...in 2nd its just 3000+ and 3rd is like around 2700-3000 and 4th is 2500+...

FormulaLT1
04-12-2006, 11:25 PM
Could be a loose bolt from the flywheel to torque converter. Flywheel bolts to crank too can come loose. I have had that happen to me before.

Edit- Definetly not your driveshaft though if its doing it in Neutral and park. Just wanted to make that clear even though you seem to already know that.

tcfco2005
04-13-2006, 10:01 AM
well im pretty sure its not a bolt coming out cause it was happening after i got a new tranny and torque coverter...but it was also happening before that but now its worse...thats what makes me think its the flywheel and now the vibration just seems worse because of the poly tranny mount?
