Heat Issue!

My 95 wont put out heat oven though the knob is on the heat setting. Its at operating temp. could something be stuck shut? Im not to sure what I should check?

Are your heater hoses getting hot? Becarefull touching them they can get very hot. If the inlet hose is hot and the outlet hose is cold then the heater core is plugged and needs back flushed or replaced. If they are both hot then the door that controls where the air is coming from is stuck.

Yes both hoses are hot. Do I take that box apart that is under the dash on the passenger side.

On my 90, the temp actuator went bad and I lost heat. The actuator moves the temp door based on the temp selected on the controller.
It is behind the tape deck on my 90 (now an aftermarket CD Player). I had to remove the CD Player and glove box to get at it.

hmm, I just ripped the box apart and got to the heater core. it all seemed fine and i dont know where exacly the door that opens and closes is. Im assuming right above the heater core. But this truck had all the wiring harness pulled out recently and such, maybe its a fuse. could wiring and fuses be the problem?

I am not sure about the differences between my 90 and your 95.
On mine the actuator was right behind where the tape deck was in the middle of the dash. It was not right above the heater core.
The actuator is controlled by the a/c controller in the dash. If it has power, the actuator has power. Mine was tired and could not move the door anymore. A new actuator and heat works fine.
If you pull the glove box, you should be able to see center part of the actuator moving when you change the heat from cold to hot. In my case, it did not move so I replaced it.

I've got a 92K 1500 Pickup... I assume my dash configuration is about the same as your truck... is the acuator replacement just a remove and repalce or is there some mthod beyond that....

It is held in my 2 small bolts. Other that being a little hard to get at it was pretty much a remove and replace.
One thing I did to make it easier was that I hooked up the new actuator, turned on the ignition and turned that heat to cold. That way, the new actuator lines up with the temp door.
The factory service manuals mention that you need to remove power to the controllor so that it learns the new actuator. I moved the heat from cold to hot and back a few times with the actuator hooked up but not installed and it worked fine for me.
By the way, the actuator made some noise when it went out. It was trying to move the door but could not. You may want to remove the center tape deck (or aftermarket player) and watch the actuator. If it moves when you move the heat from cold to hot, it may not be your problem. In my case, it did not budge.

Again, not sure if 90 is the same as 95. On my 90, I had to remove the center tape deck and the glove box to get at it. It is almost directly behind the center tape desk.
Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures when I worked on mine or I would post the picture of it.

not the actuator i think it the whole control knob unit.
